How to Play Pokemon Champions

Here are the the
Battle Basics and Gameplay Flow for Pokémon Champions.

Getting Your Pokémon

There are two ways to build your roster: Pokémon HOME allows you to connect the app to transfer Pokémon you already own from the RPG series or Pokémon GO. Daily Recruitment lets you choose one Pokémon for free once per day from a random selection. Recruited Pokémon are temporary and only available for one week, but you can use VP (Victory Points) to keep a recruited Pokémon permanently or to recruit more than once per day.

Preparing for the Match

To prepare for a match, you choose six Pokémon to form your active team. Before the fight starts, you and your opponent see each other's teams. You use this preview time to decide which specific Pokémon you will lead with based on what you think your opponent will do.

How to Battle

The game uses turn-based combat where players alternate turns selecting moves. The objective is to win by reducing the HP of all your opponent's Pokémon to zero. On your turn, you can choose to attack, swap one Pokémon for another, or use Mega Evolution. Formats include Single Battles (1-on-1) and Double Battles (2-on-2).

Mega Evolution and New Abilities

Mega Evolution is a major tactical tool that changes the tide of battle. Certain Pokémon gain brand new abilities upon Mega Evolving that haven't been seen in previous games.

Training and Customization

You do not level up in the traditional sense. Instead, you use Victory Points (VP) earned from battles to modify your Pokémon instantly. You can swap which moves a Pokémon can learn, change their Nature and Abilities to better fit your strategy, and manually adjust stat points. For example, you can increase Attack and Speed to boost offense or raise HP and Defense to withstand attacks.

Competitive Modes

There are three main online modes. Ranked Battles allow you to compete against players of similar skill to climb the ladder. Casual Battles let you practice and experiment without affecting your record. Private Battles allow you to challenge friends using a Room ID. There are also Online Competitions with preset rules that change every season.

Customization and the Shop

Beyond the Pokémon themselves, you can use VP in the Shop to purchase held items and Mega Stones. You can also get clothing and looks for your Trainer, different Poké Ball throwing styles, and battle music.
